Meet FAQ

When should I sign up for a meet?
All the meets have a cap on the number of swimmers who may participate, so sign up as soon as the meet opens. If you wait, the meet can fill up. The MEET SHEETS will be available on line at pacswim.org or ome.swimconnection.com. USA Swimming has a large variety of events which gives the swimmers a chance to try new things and find new talents to broaden their swimming horizons.

Do I still register for MARIN SWIM LEAGUE in the spring?
Our goal as a coaching staff is for the kids to return to the Marin Swim League, come March, but to utilize the fall and winter swim season with USA Swimming to build a solid swimming background should the swimmer decide to continue through the spring or even really dedicate themselves to the sport later. Swimming long course – where pool length is typically 50 meters in length – from April through August is part of that plan. Most of the really big USA Swimming meets are long course, so kids who get used to it earlier have an advantage. These meets are lots of fun with great camaraderie. You may continue to swim in USA Swimming meets while swimming with the Marin Swim League, but you must sign up “unattached” and you can only go on days when there is not a Marin Swim League meet.

Are all swimmers on the TRITONS Swim Team required to participate in the meets?
Meets are not mandatory but strongly encouraged. Swimmers remain motivated to practice when they know they will be racing. Improving times gives them goals. Also, the Rolling Hills TRITONS are a team, not a fall/winter clinic, and the camaraderie of being on a team is strengthened in competition. The kids hang out with each other and cheer for each other at the meets.
