Melissa Adkison

STINGRAYS Assistant Head Coach, TRITONS Assistant Head Coach,
Swim Lesson Instructor

Melissa has been Assistant Head Coach to the Rolling Hills Club Stingrays Swim Team since 2010. She also is the Assistant Head Coach to the newly chartered USA Tritons Swim Team as of August of 2011. With each team she has furthered their success. Last year the Stingrays moved up to 3rd place in the MSL Championships and she helped the Tritons make their mark at the USA meets last fall. Melissa has a long history here at Rolling Hills Club not only for herself but you can look at the Stingrays Record Board and she that the Adkison children continue to hold pool and team records at Rolling Hills Club. In addition, Melissa has been involved as a Tadpole Coach and has extensive experience as a Swim Instructor at Rolling Hills Club. As a competitive swimmer with the Mud Sharks Masters Team, Melissa has won High Point Medals in Pacific Masters, All American Swimmer and has placed in US Masters National Meets. She currently teaches water aerobics, group swim lessons and helps coach the SwimFit program at Rolling Hills Club. In her spare time Melissa is a professional artist/teacher. Melissa combines a great ability to teach the technical aspects of swimming with a friendly style of coaching that helps swimmers learn to swim fast in a fun and enjoyable environment.

Kathy Towey

Swim Lesson Coordinator, American Red Cross Trainer, Swim Lesson Instructor,
Junior STINGRAYS Coach, Novice TRITONS Coach

As a teenager, Kathy Towey swam competitively and worked as a lifeguard and swimming instructor in the Presidio of San Francisco during high school and college. When the army left the Presidio, she began a new career in Emergency Medical Services, becoming certified as an EMT, then as a paramedic. After working nine years as a paramedic, she is back in the water again. She has been teaching swimming lessons at Rolling Hills Club since 2003. As an American Red Cross (ARC) Instructor, she also teaches our ARC Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED/First Aid and Babysitter’s Training classes. She has also helped for many years as a juniors coach for the Stingrays and Tritons swim teams. Kathy has two young boys, who are Stingrays swimmers. She loves working with children and helping them gain confidence in learning how to swim or to improve their swimming technique. Hope to see you in the pool!
