Welcome Letter
January 23, 2006
Dear Stingray Parents/Guardians:
Happy New Year to All!
It is time to prepare for the 2006 Stingray Swim Team Season. We are extremely pleased to have Head Coach Sharon Smith and Assistant Coach Jeff Smith (yes, her brother) returning to lead the team to best times, better stroke techniques and lots of fun. Registration is Sunday, February 12 and practice begins Monday, March 6. Those dates will be here before we know it! In addition to normal workouts, with more swim clinics every swimmer will have a chance to improve their stroke and turn technique. And don’t forget, if you want individual coaching, Sharon and Jeff are available for lessons.
Stingray Team Orientation
To help you prepare for the season we are hosting a Stingray Team Orientation on Sunday, January 29 from 3:30 to 5:00 at the Club. This is open to Parents/Guardians and swimmers. Enjoy refreshments and visit the different information booths. You will have a chance to meet and talk with Coach Sharon and other team parents. You will learn more about how the team works, how swim meets are run and scored and other vital swim team information. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to ask questions about our Stingray team. We look forward to seeing you.
2006 Stingray Registration and Orientation
Registration is Sunday, February 12, 2 – 5 pm, at the Club for children ages 4 – 18 years. The 2006 season runs from March 6 through July 16. Learn about your parent obligations and sign up for the jobs that suit your schedule. Please read all of the Registration information and completely fill out all the necessary forms. It will help Registration run smoothly for everyone.
Volunteering
We need your help. As with every team in the Marin Swim League, parent/guardian volunteering is a necessary responsibility. Did you know that every swim meet requires at least 75 – 100 parent volunteers from each team? Besides those jobs at swim meets, we have many “behind the scenes” positions that need to be filled by parents. Also, this year the Stingrays will host the food concession stand at Championships. As with any activity, the more involved you are with your child’s interests, the better experience it will be for them and you. So, please review the attached list of volunteer positions, find the ones that fit your interests and sign up for them at registration. We all must work together, every parent/guardian, doing their part to help the team. We thank you in advance for doing your part.
