Being
on time for practice – Unless the parent of a swimmer has spoken
to a coach or delivered a signed message that describes circumstances
for a child to be late or leave practice early, We expect swimmers
to be on time. Repeated tardiness will be dealt with by the coaching
staff, and the parents will be contacted. We ask that swimmers be
on deck 10 minutes before practice/stretching begins so we can get
the most out of our time. Repeated tardiness due to laziness (i.e.,
standing on deck, sitting in spa, fooling around) will be dealt with
by the coaching staff, and the parents will be contacted.
Attendance – Since a swimmer’s improvement relies
greatly on their time in the water, We are urging a minimum of
three days a week of practice with four and five as our preference.
We realize circumstances and other obligations may prevent or affect
attendance. In that case, please schedule a lesson or two a week
and check in with a coach to see what you should be working on.
Swim Meet Attendance – Our philosophy is that we spend 23
weeks to prepare to be our best at the Marin Swim League Championship
Meet. Why would you work so hard and put so much time in if you
are to miss the meet that defines the season? Of course, we cannot
require attendance at championships or any other meet, but we ask
that you please plan your time away, sleepovers, birthday parties,
etc. around the swim meets, giving the swim meet a very high priority
with championships being at the top of the list. This also applies
to all of our team functions. The better our meet and function
attendance is the more unified we become.
Lessons - Young or old, advanced or beginner, lessons are important.
Regardless of how much time is spent teaching and preaching technique
and specific practice drills or starts and turns, a one-to-one
ratio is always more advantageous than 10:1, 15:1 or 20:1. We will
assure you that we will do our best and see that our staff does
their best to make ourselves available for these lessons. Please
see each coach to set up a private swim lesson.
Parents on Deck - Rolling Hills Club is a private club. Therefore
we are unable to apply a parent on deck policy, nor would we. However,
please use good judgment when talking to the coaches and stay out
of our deck space with the children. If your son or daughter needs
you, we will find you. Most importantly parents, please, please
don’t coach your children during practice. If you have any
comments or input, please wait for the appropriate time.
